These slips are classified by gripping length into Short (SDS), Medium (SDML), and Extra Long (SDXL). SDS slips excel in shallow drilling, SDML slips are ideal for medium-depth drilling, while SDXL slips are perfect for deep drilling operations.
Drill pipe slips Type SD cater to drill pipes ranging from 2-3/8 to 7 inches. They are categorized into Short (SDS), Medium (SDML), and Extra Long (SDXL). SDS slips are tailored for shallow drilling, SDML slips are optimal for medium-depth drilling, and SDXL slips are designed for deep drilling. These slips adhere to API Spec 7K and SY/T 5049 standards, making them indispensable for handling drill rods during oil well drilling operations, essential for petroleum and natural gas exploration.
